There are different
types of damage in Diablo 3. These are caused by various spells, runes and
weapons. Characters and monsters counter these attacks with equivalent types of
resistance and immunities. Players must find the right balance of their abilities
to succeed in their battles and conquer the different damage types casted upon
them.
Every form of damage
can count for a critical hit and when this happens, a bonus effect is added
along with increased damage. Targets that die form critical hits usually
explode in a gory manner.
The Elemental Damage
types are the Arcane, Cold, Fire, Lightning, and Poison. There are also Disease
Damage and Holy Damage.
These different types
can be realized through three ways – the Melee damage, ranged damage and spell damage.
For the Melee damage, the attacker is toe-to-toe to the defender. Most weapons
are melee weapons. For the ranged damage, there is a distance between the
attacker and the defender. Bows and crossbows are usually used for ranged
damage. And for the Spell Damage, the attacker uses spells from a Skill Tree
against the defender.
